About us

Pi Imaging Technology is a spin-off from EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) creating highly efficient photon counting arrays. CMOS technology enables our designs to have an unlimited number of pixels and adaptable architectures.                   

We are at the forefront of the quantum revolution and our vision is to transform the way we count photons.


Photon-counting applications

Our detectors allow cells that are being imaged to live on while we observe them. To make the image smooth and sharp without using too much light, we detect single photons, quanta (or particles) of light, extremely efficiently.

The object being detected or its surrounding is rapidly moving or changing shape? Our detectors enable you to reconstruct an object or its trajectory because we detect faster than 1 MHz. We transform photons directly to digital signals and eliminating analog noise sources enables us to run our detectors very fast.

We are hiring talented individuals with a strong motivation to develop the next generation photon-counting technology. We are looking for interdisciplinary persons with engineering or business background.

Students and interns looking for semester projects are welcome to join us at EPFL Innovation Park. We are looking for persons to work on cleanroom fabrication, optical measurements, PCB and FPGA design.
